    While it is clear that more and more goods and services are being bought and sold online, I suspect that there will always be demand for good salespeople in specific sectors both at the level of consumer salespeople and also in the business-to-business space.

    Business is often about trust and personal relationships, and the role of salespeople is to develop that trust. This is particularly true in certain parts of the world such as China where it is customary only to do business when a certain relationship “Guanxi” is established.

    People who can do this well will always be in demand, although the tools they use to know their customers and adapt their products and services will evolve very quickly.
